Kelpie is an independent, female family-owned Australian swimwear label.

Named after the mythological water spirit—elusive, alluring, and powerful—Kelpie explores the relationship between elegance and wildness. The brand exists in the space between softness and strength, creating swimwear that reflects movement, transformation, and individuality.

Every collection is developed in-house, from initial concept and design through to photography and campaign creation. This allows each release to exist as a complete expression of the Kelpie perspective.

We believe the most memorable pieces are the ones that allow you to feel completely yourself.

Kelpie creates swimwear designed around the natural body. Pieces that move effortlessly, feel considered, and allow confidence to exist without effort or performance.

(03) THE KELPIE NAME

Kelpie takes its name from the mythological water spirit: a creature associated with beauty, mystery, transformation, and power.

This duality shapes the identity of the brand. Kelpie reflects the contrast between refinement and instinct—the delicate and the untamed, the familiar and the unknown.

Each collection carries this same tension through considered silhouettes, unexpected details, and a sense of quiet strength.

(04) DESIGN

Swimwear as a creative expression.

Kelpie approaches swimwear as part of a broader creative practice.

Each collection begins with a concept, developing through silhouette, texture, colour, styling, and visual direction. Rather than designing around traditional seasonal trends, releases are created as distinct moments with their own identity.

The result is swimwear that balances simplicity with character—minimal forms elevated through thoughtful details, considered proportions, and a refined point of view.

(05) IMAGE MAKING

Photography is an essential part of Kelpie's creative process.

Every campaign is photographed by HT, allowing each collection to be captured through a singular creative vision. Images are not created simply to showcase the garment, but to communicate the feeling, attitude, and world surrounding it.

Through composition, location, movement, and intimacy, photography becomes an extension of the design itself.

(06) COLOUR

Colour is one of the foundations of every Kelpie collection.

We develop shades with depth and balance. Tones that feel refined, wearable, and naturally harmonious across a broad spectrum of skin tones.

Rather than relying on overly saturated or fleeting trends, Kelpie favours nuanced colours with subtle dimension. Combined with softly lustrous fabrics, each shade responds to light and movement, creating a finish that feels personal to the wearer.

(07) MATERIALITY

The feeling begins with fabric.

Material selection is central to the Kelpie experience.

Each fabric is chosen for the way it feels, moves, and performs. We seek materials that combine a luxurious hand feel with the technical qualities required of swimwear, including comfort, recovery, durability, and resistance to saltwater and chlorine.

The result is swimwear designed to feel as beautiful in wear as it appears visually.

(08) CONSTRUCTION

Every Kelpie piece is designed in Sydney and produced in limited quantities through a carefully selected network of specialist manufacturing partners in China.

Each style is refined through an extensive development process, focusing on fit, function, and finish. Double-lined construction, considered pattern making, and precise detailing create pieces that are designed for confidence, comfort, and longevity.

Quality is found in the details. The decisions that may not always be visible, but are always felt.

(09) OUR COMMITMENT

To create with intention. 

As an independent label, Kelpie takes a considered approach to design and production.

By creating in limited quantities, we focus on developing pieces with purpose rather than contributing to constant cycles of excess. We believe the most meaningful garments are those that are worn often, remembered, and valued over time.
